Description:
Here we have a minty Colt Diamondback double action revolver in .22 long rifle caliber. Colt introduced the double-action Diamondback as a deluxe model in 1966. It has a wide serrated target hammer, ventilated rib, fully adjustable target quality sights, and full-length barrel underlug. It is a 6-shot revolver with a swing-out cylinder and was available in blue or nickel finishes. Visually, the Diamondback resembles a scaled-down version of the Python. The Diamondback was dropped from production in 1988. The top strap of the Diamondback's frame is a flat top target type. The grips provided on guns with 4 and 6 inch barrels are checkered walnut target type. Its internal lockwork is of the same basic design as the Python and uses the traditional Colt "V" shaped mainspring. The Diamondback is perhaps the finest .22 LR revolver of the modern era. Its action is generally superior to those of competing DA revolvers. This particular example is in very minty condition having just a few handling marks.There are 2 very small marks on the right side of the barrel about 3/4 of the way from the cylinder. The 6" barrel has a vented rib, outstanding bore with minty rifling. The grips with the Rampant Colt logo have sharp checkering and could certainly pass for brand new. The cylinder has the absolute finest possible of turn/timing rings. This beautiful Colt Snake gun would make a great addition to an existing collection or an excellent way to start a new collection. This fine Colt would be a great investment.
