#5010 Colt S/A 7-1/2”x45COLT, 20XXX range (1876), fine bore
Description: #5010 Colt S/A 7-1/2”x45COLT, 20XXX range (1876), fine bore, about an 8 on a scale of 10, with no pitting and a smooth, tight action with all four clicks on the hammer. The metal is vey nice for its age and well above average for what is basically a no-finish gun, but it has a few light scattered pits on the barrel exterior. No mentionable pitting or serious wear anywhere else. The one-piece wood grips are really very, very fine grips with no blems at all. The overall look is certainly well above what one usually sees for such an early old cowboy Colt, but suffice to say this (…and this is a VERY important fact!!) …that since many, if not most antique Single Actions have been enhanced and/or “juiced-up” to some degree (especially the very highly sought after and desirable militaries), that one should always take the possibility of some degree of upgrading from some of the many previous owners. This gun has been valued and priced with that possibility in mind, although in MY opinion, this revolver looks pretty danged good and I don’t see anything that jumps out at me as being incorrect with the exception that it looks have had some Cold Blue slopped on it at one time and the grips look to be replaced. They are just TOO good for a 145 year old gun. There are a lot of photos to this VERY desirable and very early Civilian S/A, so if they all don’t load (there are about 20 in all), just email me and I will forward them to you by return email. This is a real good opportunity to own a real early piece of the most coveted and popular Wild West frontier cartridge handguns …and one of the fastest value appreciators in the antique gun field.
