Description:
"Serial number 56862. Made in 1880. 45 LC caliber with a 5.5" barrel. This gun is in excellent condition. There is approximately 90%+ of the original blue. All of the case colors remain. The grips are excellent with nice sharp cartouches. On the butt of the gun is a stick-on label with either a collection or museum tag number. This is a top notch example of a Colt artillery model. These guns were correctly nonmatching as they were brought back into service after being retired for the Spanish American War. The new 38 Colt caliber did not pack enough punch, so the old Colt Single Actions were brought back into service, reconditioned, and the barrels shortened. During the reconditioning, no attempt was made to match these guns with their original parts.
