1 of 412 Colt Bisley .38 Long Colt with Factory Letter 1908 SAA Single Action Army
Description:
Guns by Sally-always the best for less. We are over the top proud to offer this stunning example of Colt's Bisley model, chambered in Colt's own .38 Long. While Bisley models are sought after for their lower production numbers, it is the icing on the cake to find one chambered in a rare caliber. Furthermore, this one looks like we set the time machine back to 1908. Matching the Colt letter requested by the good doctor back in 1968, this wheel gun boasts deep rich blue, vivid case color, and generally crisp markings. Even the bore of the 5 1/2 inch barrel is bright with strong rifling. She locks up well with the hammer at rest and at full cock. The butt of the grips bear some dings, but only add character to this scarce Colt. To make matters even more interesting, it was shipped by itself in the year of our Lord 1908. It was special ordered by J.F. Schmelzer Arms in Kansas City. John Schmelzer had actually worked in the Colt factory in 1844. His store has been called the Bass Pro Shop of the day, bragging about being the biggest outfitter in the world. If you have been looking for the right Colt Bisley to collect or for investment, but want the added clout of a lettered scarce caliber, then look no further.
