1873 Colt Single Action Army .45 Revolver ANTIQUE 1st Gen SAA 4 3/4" Nickel Ivory Grips 1898
Description:
Antique First Generation Model 1873 Colt Single Action Army Revolver, Nickel Plated with Ivory Grips, .45 Cal, mfg. 1898 with 4 3/4" bbl. This is a solid original Colt Single Action with a classic gunslinger look. It retains a fair amount of an older reapplied nickel finish with the balance polished to match. Period 100+ year old ivory grips fit well and have a fantastic mellowed yellow color with swirled grain and typical age checking. The right forward lower corner has been neatly repaired/replaced with ivory long ago and there is a very thin old 3/4" long chip at the left rear edge along the backstrap. Matching serial number "181022" stamped on the frame, triggerguard, and backstrap with clear patent dates. The rampant horse logo, "45 COLT" marking, and two-line barrel address are all faint but legible. Original hammer, trigger, cylinder, loading gate, blade front sight, and cartridge extractor with brass spring. Screws appear original. The cylinder pin and bushing are modern replacements. Wonderful smooth, crisp action with four distinct clicks. The cylinder locks up tight with only slight play. The cylinder gap seems a bit much and could probably benefit from minor adjustment. Fair bore with strong rifling and moderate to heavy blackpowder frosting and superfine pinprick pitting scattered throughout. 1873 Colt Single Action Army .45 Revolver ANTIQUE 1st Gen SAA 4 3/4" Nickel Ivory Grips 1898
Description:
Antique First Generation Model 1873 Colt Single Action Army Revolver, Nickel Plated with Ivory Grips, .45 Cal, mfg. 1898 with 4 3/4" bbl. This is a solid original Colt Single Action with a classic gunslinger look. It retains a fair amount of an older reapplied nickel finish with the balance polished to match. Period 100+ year old ivory grips fit well and have a fantastic mellowed yellow color with swirled grain and typical age checking. The right forward lower corner has been neatly repaired/replaced with ivory long ago and there is a very thin old 3/4" long chip at the left rear edge along the backstrap. Matching serial number "181022" stamped on the frame, triggerguard, and backstrap with clear patent dates. The rampant horse logo, "45 COLT" marking, and two-line barrel address are all faint but legible. Original hammer, trigger, cylinder, loading gate, blade front sight, and cartridge extractor with brass spring. Screws appear original. The cylinder pin and bushing are modern replacements. Wonderful smooth, crisp action with four distinct clicks. The cylinder locks up tight with only slight play. The cylinder gap seems a bit much and could probably benefit from minor adjustment. Fair bore with strong rifling and moderate to heavy blackpowder frosting and superfine pinprick pitting scattered throughout. A real Wild West cowboy Colt in the most desired and iconic configuration. *NOTE* Due to ivory restrictions this pistol will not be sold or shipped to residents of California, Hawaii, Illinois, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, or Washington.
