BISLEY IN SCARCE .41 COLT CALIBER, 4 ¾” BARREL, #288XXX, WITH COLT FACTORY LETTER SHOWING THIS REVOLVER WAS SHIPPED TO SIMMONS HARDWARE COMPANY, ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI, JANUARY 18, 1907. Of the approx. 44,350 Bisley revolvers made by Colt between 1894-1915, only 3,159 were made in .41 Colt caliber. This fine example recently came out of Arizona. The barrel, cylinder and ejector housing retain a very aged blue that is mixing plum/brown. There is good blue in the upper and lower parts of the ejector housing. The grip straps and frame are a soft gray/brown with excellent markings overall and fine screw heads. Fine grips show only normal light wear. Inside the left panel where the matching serial number is scratched is also lightly scratched “Prue Grun Robert Lee Tex” (Hard to make out the “Grun” word or name, could be "Grier" or something similar) and the other grip is marked inside “J. W. Cason” over “R. L.” over “Co.” Tight action, matching numbers, fine+ bore may scrub out even better, four-click hammer tumbler, front sight has not been filed or altered. Bisley revolvers were very popular in the Southwestern U.S. Scarce original Bisley with attractive appearance.
