This is for my 1st Gen. Colt SAA 38WCF that was once owned by Hank Williams, Jr. In the late 1990's, Hank sold a number of guns from his collection to a dealer in North Carolina and I purchased this one. A copy of Hank's letter is included listing 23 revolvers in this lot. I only have a copy of the letter, not the letter with the original signature.
This revolver is serial number 2840xx and has a 4 3/4 inch barrel with wood grips. According to the included factory letter, it was shipped on October 12, 1906, to Belknap Hardware in Louisville, KY, and the configuration matches the present. The bore has good rifling with some old pitting. I shot a few boxes of ammo through it when I first got it and it functioned flawlessly. The action cycles perfectly with crisp "C-O-L-T" clicks and the lockup is tight. I would not be suprised if Hank had the action worked by a SAA specialist. The gun has obviously been refinished and the grips look too good to be original. I am including several photos and would be glad to try to answer your questions. I require payment in the form of USPS Money Orders. The gun will be shipped from my dealer to yours by insured Priority Mail.
