Colt 1st Generation Single Action Army Revolver
Description:
Serial #164336, .32 WCF (.32-20), 7 1/2" barrel with a very good bore that has strong rifling and mild freckling within the grooves.
This is an 1896-made revolver that retains 90-92% of a period added nickel finish that has left the markings quite crisp and legible.
There are some small peen marks and minor scuffs scattered about the nickel, some minor peeling to the underlying gray metal on the rear of the frame, and a replacement Winchester front sight mounted in a dovetail at the muzzle.
The hammer has a mostly plum-brown patina with traces of muted color case-hardening on the sides.
The checkered rampant colt hard rubber grips are in fine shape with some mild flattening of the points and a few minor surface scratches (mostly at the butt on the left side).
The lock-up is still tight and the mechanism is fully functional.
The revolver is accompanied by a 2014 dated Colt Factory Letter that lists a shipping date of March 6, 1896, to Henry C. Squires & Sons, NYC as a single gun shipment.
The finish at the time was “Blue".
This is a very nice, period refinished Colt SAA, and rates very good condition overall.
