This is a clean, no finish, Colt Single Action Army revolver shipped to J. F. Schmelzer & Sons Arms Company, Kansas City, Missouri, October 1, 1906 with 5 other guns (serial #283712). It has a good, lightly frosted bore, all its clicks, locks up tight and has matching numbers. Grips appear to be original to the gun, though well used, and the right one has been epoxied to reinforce it on the inside. A lanyard ring has been added to the butt, and the gun supposedly was used by a deputy sheriff in East Texas, according to the grandson who pawned it at a shop in Colorado several years ago. I was unsuccessful at tracking anything more down.
It comes with an early Stelzig Saddlery, Houston, Texas, basket weave carved holster in very good condition.
