Description:
Between 1896 and 1903 the US government recalled all of the cavalry 7 1/2 SAA and reworked them to 5 1/2 Artillery models. This due to the dissatisfaction and lack of power of the m1892 .38 LC double action revolver. The first 1200 Colt painstakingly put back together with matching numbers and roughly 16300 were done at Springfield armory. 5000 +/- of these pistols were used during The Spanish/American war and the Philippines insurrection. Some sources believe a large amount ended up with the famous Rough Riders. This version is in great working order. Everything functions properly and has mixed serial numbers which is 100% correct. It is RAC inspected with his initials on the frame. Great piece and worth deeper research through John Kopec or other sources.
