Colt SAA 1st Gen 1904 41 Colt 5.5” w/ Archive Letter

1904 Colt Single Action Army, 41 Colt, 5.5”, Original Blue/Case-Hardened
--This SAA is up for sale from my personal collection. The Colt archive letter confirms this SAA as a 1904 41 long colt blue/case-hardened model with 5.5” barrel. The serial stamped on the frame is 251863, which matches the serial on the trigger guard strap and backstrap. The gun's original blue/case-hardened finish is essentially gone, but in its place is a nice consistent patina. There are no major gashes. The cylinder does have a turn line. The gun is fitted with 1-piece ivory grips. The left side has a few very small chips on the bottom. The right side has a rattlesnake/cactus design. The ivory grips probably need to be fitted a little better. The original black rubber grips (now brown) are included, but they are well worn. I’m not a competent gunsmith, but the action does need a little work. The sear engages the 3rd notch prior to the cylinder locking up. You will hear five clicks instead of four if you slowly cock the hammer. The bore is quite good. I noticed very slight frosting in the barrel bore. The screw heads are in overall good shape. It looks like some of the trigger guard and backstrap screws were replaced at some point. With that said, this Colt would make a fine addition to any collection. The ivory grips add to the presentation of the gun. Everyone should own a Colt SAA!
