Colt SAA first gen, Texas Cattle Brand engraved by D W Harris

Description:
Colt SAA made in 1902, .45 lc, 5 ½” barrel; engraved in the famous Texas Cattle Brand pattern, by master engraver David Wade Harris (D W Harris) and it is finished in antique silver. 

If this Texas Cattle Brand pattern looks familiar it is because Mr. Harris learned his craft from the most famous Texas Cattle Brand engraver, Weldon Bledsoe.

One of the very first, if not the first documented Texas Cattle Brand engraved guns was done by Cole Agee in the 1940’s for the President of Mexico.  Cole Agee’s unofficial protégé was Weldon Bledsoe; and it is Mr. Bledsoe who has been credited with over 300 Cattle Brand engraved pieces.  Mr. Bledsoe passed in 1995 leaving D W Harris to carry on the legacy of engraving the Texas Cattle Brand pattern!

This one was completed in early 1999 and has remained in private collections until now.
