Colt ~ Single Action Army (Gen 1) ~ .32 WCF
Description:
The accompanying factory letter lists this revolver as shipped on March 1, 1911, to Sears Roebuck and Company in Chicago, Illinois, in .32-20 caliber, with a 7 1/2 inch barrel, blue finish, and type of grips not listed. This shipment included 2 guns of the same type. This Colt Single Action Army revolver chambered in the desirable, "easy-shooting" .32-20 W.C.F. The top of the barrel has the one-line Colt Hartford address with "32 W.C.F." on the left. The left side of the frame is marked with the two-line patent dates followed by the circled Rampant Colt trademark. The two-piece checkered hard rubber grips have the Rampant Colt trademark embossed in an oval at the tops. Matching visible full serial numbers on the frame, trigger guard, and back strap, with matching "22" on the cylinder, and assembly number "555" on the loading gate, rear of the frame, and also etched on the interiors of both later production grip panels. Very fine retains 80% original blue finish on the barrel, cylinder, and trigger guard, with a restored back strap renumbered to match, 70% original case colors, with smooth gray patina on the balance, some minor oxidation, and legible markings. Grips are very fine, with well-defined edges, minor handling marks, and crisp checkering and logos. Mechanically excellent. ProvenanceErie Morgan; The Charles Marx Collection .32 WCF
