Colt Single Action Army U.S. Cavalry Model .45 Long Colt Nickel Plated MFG. 1883 **Unusual State Militia/Factory Buy Back**
Description:
Scarce and unusual example of Colt Single Action U.S. Cavalry model that has confounded Colt collectors for years. Serial Number 73895, is a fully D.F.C. inspected revolver that has a factory nickel finish and varnished grips. Previously these guns were referred to as "Indian Scout" or "Officers" guns, but there is no known evidence to support these theories. Author John Kopec has now documented several similar guns, and the largest known serial number groups appear to be guns that the Colt company bought back from state militias or over-runs that they then nickel plated while still in new condition, and resold on the commercial market. This gun still retains about 70% of it's nickel finish and is in excellent mechanical condition. Most of the varnish on the grips has disappeared, most likely because it was applied over the original Government oil finish. All serial numbers match and the gun is mechanically sound. This is a very desirable Colt Single Action with an unusual history. PRICE: $7,950 We are Antique & Modern Firearms in Lexington, KY, dealer of fine firearms since 1974. PH. 859-276-1419 We Buy, Sell and Trade Firearms & Knives. Have a Individual Firearm, Firearms Collection, or Firearms Estate to sell, let us know, we can buy or consignment sell it for you. NOTE: No additional Fee for Credit Card Purchases.
