Henry Nettleton "U.S." Cavalry Colt Single Action Army, Cal. .45 LC
Description:
This is a very nice, untouched Cavalry revolver found in New England approximately seven years ago. The finish shows the results of poor storage in an outdoor shed, but much original blue and color case hardening remains and the date (1878) and inspector's cartouches are clear and distinct on the grips. Henry Nettleton inspected Cavalry models are among the most desirable of the U.S. government guns. This gun turned over to the inspectors at the Colt plant on July 17, 1878, and sibsequently sent on the Springfield Armory. Unlike other inspectors, Henry Nettleton put his stamp, "HN", on the left side of the hammer and on the triggerguard. No one knows why he was allowed to do that, but it certainly makes his guns unique. This gun was probably in near mint condition when it was hidden away, and the bore is still perfect. The partial serial number on the cylinder is 8253, exactly thirty numbers higher than the rest of the gun, 8223, and probably a factory error or possibly a "field mix" as Mr. Kopec points out in hiss authentification letter. There is also a factory letter with the gun. This is a 100% original U.S. Colt Single Action. PRICE: $18,500 We are Antique & Modern Firearms in Lexington, KY, dealer of fine firearms since 1974. PH. 859-276-1419 We Buy, Sell and Trade Firearms & Knives. Have a Individual Firearm, Firearms Collection, or Firearms Estate to sell, let us know, we can buy or consignment sell it for you.
