High Condition 1916 Colt 1st Gen. SAA 44-40 4 3/4'' Blue/CC with Factory Letter
Description:
1916 1st Gen. Colt SAA chambered Inn 44–40 with a 4.75 inch barrel and factory blue/color case finish. Per the included Colt Archive letter it was shipped to St. Louis Missouri April 3, 1916. All of the numbers match on the frame, grip frame, and trigger guard. The grips themselves are not numbered, but that being said they actually fit quite well but not perfect.The finish is 100% original and remains in high condition. Almost all of the bluing still retains a deep dark shine throughout. Outside of a trace of silvering at the muzzle most of the leading edges remain sharp. The grip straps are flat out exceptional. The color casing is somewhat faded, but remains completely intact. Overall, the finish rates 95%. The bore is bright and shiny with strong lands and grooves. It shows just a trace of wearand it's still rates a 9 out of 10. All four clicks are crisp and the lock up is tight. The grips remain in excellent condition with sharp checkers and a minor spot of wear at the front right heel. At 110 years old, this one is quite the survivor.
