Rare Colt SAA Pre-War/Post War gun - Factory Glahn Engraved with carved pearl grips and pictured in the book of Colt Engraving!
Description:
For your consideration is a superb and rare Colt Single Action Army in .45LC caliber. The gun is a late pre-war/post-war gun that is factory engraved with Glahn. The gun has a 5-1/2" barrel and carved pearl grips. The gun comes to us as a single family gun having been purchased new by the owners grandfather. The gun is nicely engraved by Wilbur Glahn in his classic pattern with flower and scroll pattern throughout. The finishes appear all original. The barrel retains approximately 95% barrel blue with only minor muzzle wear which can be seen in the photos. The ejector rod housing is nicely engraved and retains nearly all of its blue. The frame is beautifully engraved and retains about all of its original case colors, which are deep, bold and vivid throughout. The backstrap and front strap retain about 95% original blue with only minor spotting. The trigger guard retains more than 85% original blue though there is a small blemish on the trigger guard from handling on the right side which can be seen in the photos. The grips, which are unique, are carved pearls and feature a Horse Head on the right grip. The grips fit perfectly and appear original to the gun, There is some cracquelure on both grips at the frame which can be seen in my photos and in the photos from Wilsons' book "Colt Engraving" where the gun is photographed on page 398. The bore is brilliant and shiny and the gun has only been fired very very little. Mechanics are perfect and crisp.
If you are in the market for a fresh, beautiful later engraved Colt SAA, dont let this one pass you up. It is truly superb with fantastic original finishes, great engraving, and carved pearl grips. Please dont hesitate to contact me with any questions on the gun- I can be reached at (704) 280-2382. We have many more photos available. The asking price on this gun is $SOLD plus shipping to your FFL dealer.
