ST. LOUIS Antique Black Powder Colt SAA Revolver
Description:
ST. LOUIS Antique Black Powder Colt SAA Revolver
Shipped in 1894 Per the FACTORY LETTER
Here we present an antique Colt Single Action Army Revolver that was shipped to Simmons Hardware Company in St. Louis, Missouri in 1894, per the accompanying factory letter. The Colt “Peacemaker” was introduced in 1873 and has become one of the most iconic firearms in all of history, thanks to its widespread use by the U.S. military, civilians and, more recently, in Western films.
This six-shooter is chambered in .38 WCF and features a 4-3/4 inch barrel. It would have made a great combination with a Winchester 1873 chambered for the same .38 WCF cartridge. The grips are hard rubber that feature the rampant colt. All the serial numbers match. The Colt factory letter states that this revolver was shipped in its current configuration to Simmons Hardware Company in St. Louis, Missouri on April 30, 1894, along with 10 others. As St. Louis was the gateway to the West, one can only imagine the places this gun has seen. The possibilities are nearly limitless.
The overall condition is very good. Traces of the original blue finish remain with a nice dark gray patina, appropriate with the period it was manufactured. The markings are clear and legible. The numbers match. The grips are very good. The bore is clean with good rifling. The action on this revolver is excellent.
Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.
