Description: UNIQUE Antique LETTERED .45 Colt SAA Revolver Sold to Schuyler, Hartley & Graham, New York 1878 Here we present an antique Colt Black Powder Frame Single Action Army Revolver, manufactured circa 1878 in Hartford, Connecticut. Per the Colt Archive letter, this revolver was shipped in 1878 along with 49 others to the New York arms distributors Schuyler, Hartley & Graham. The Colt Single Action Army is a worldwide icon of the United States of America and the Western Frontier. Wielded by both the worst of men and the best, the famous Single Action Army is also well-known as the Peacemaker. The factory letter that accompanies this revolver states that this was sent to Schuyler, Hartley & Graham in New York New York on May 25, 1878 in a lot of 50 revolvers. This SAA is unique in that the frame was inspected by John T. Cleveland and condemned. Thereafter, Colt used the frame to assemble a full revolver to sell on the commercial market. The top of the barrel is marked “COLT’S PT. F. A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A.”. The underside of the frame is marked with the initials “J.T.C.” for inspector John T. Cleveland. The left side of the frame has patent dates. “C” for condemned. The overall condition is good. The metal surfaces have an even, dark patina. The markings are legible. The serial numbers are matching. The grips are in great shape. The bore is clear with good rifling. The action on this revolver is excellent. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.
