"Custer Range Colt Single Action Army Model Ainsworth Inspected (AC319)
Description: "Serial Number 6442. 45 LC caliber with a 7 ½" barrel. This is a cavalry model inspected by O. W. Ainsworth. This gun has an even dark gray patina. The grips are very good and have traces of a cartouche. This gun was part of lot 6 issued to the US Cavalry and lot 5 and 6 were the guns shipped to the 7th cavalry. Several gun in the same serial range have provenance to the 7th cavalry and the battle of the little big horn. This gun comes with a letter from noted Colt expert John Kopec. Mr. Kopec says that he originally purchased this gun from an individual when he lived in La Puente, Ca in 1966 or 1967. He says that he had the barrel length restored because he did not know any better at the time. Otherwise this gun is original. This gun also comes with a copy of The Gun Report from May of 1971 where there is an article by John Kopec where this gun was pictures several times. Very Fine Custer range Colt Single Action Army!
