RARE COLT SAA CUSTOM EDITION MASTER ENGRAVED
Description: Sold Here is is a very desirable, Engraved Colt SAA. Page 242 of Don Wilkerson's Book, "The Post War Colt SAA", has a photograph and a description stating in 1977 these pistols were part of a lot of 50, 1 Spl to 50 Spl, that were assembled with pre 80,000SA, 2nd gen, parts. It further states that this order initiated the establishment of Colt's Custom Shop in 1976. There were 25 5 1/2" barreled with odd serial numbers and twent five even numbered guns with 7 1/2" barrels. This Special Edition run was masterfully engraved, with gold inlays, by Alvin White Inc. The engraving work truly is as good as it gets. This example remains in excellent, unfired condition with slight case color fading and the front grip strap/trigger guard assembly having turned a beautiful plum color. The blue finish is without flaw as are the walnut grips with silver medallions. Gold inlays, Custom Edition, is on the barrel and frame, 7 SPL, in front of the trigger guard.
