COLT’S SAN FRANCISCO AGENCY Lettered Single Action Army .44-40 SAA 1899 mfr Archive Lettered 4-3/4” Barrel .44 Caliber
Description: COLT’S SAN FRANCISCO AGENCY Lettered Single Action Army .44-40 SAA 1899 mfr Archive Lettered 4-3/4” Barrel .44 Caliber Here we present a C&R First Generation Colt Single Action Army Revolver in .44-40 WCF, manufactured in 1899 in Hartford, Connecticut and sent to Colt’s San Francisco, California Agency per the factory letter. The Colt “Peacemaker” was introduced in 1873 and has become one of the most iconic firearms in all of history, thanks to its widespread use by the U.S. military, civilians and, more recently, in Western films. Total production numbers for the “First Generation” (c. 1873-1940) Colt Single Action Army reached 357,859. These continued to be relied upon as well as “hot-rodded” by the likes of Elmer Keith, Skeeter Skelton, many other lawmen and gun writers of the time. The overall condition is good+. Original finish/patina. The action is excellent and crisp. The bore is in good shape for age and well-rifled. The numbers match. The rampant Colt trademarked hard rubber grips are very worn from use and remain solid. Here is a gun that went West to California in the closing days of the 19th Century and was very apparently well-used and well-kept. A great piece! This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 4-3/4 inches. Caliber: .44-40 Winchester Center Fire Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING. Will need to be sent to your local FFL or C&R licensee. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $5450 #217502 SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
