HIGH CONDITION, SCARCE CALIBER SINGLE ACTION ARMY, .38 COLT, 5 1/2" BARREL, FACTORY LETTER, #352XXX, MADE 1929
Description: HIGH CONDITION, SCARCE CALIBER SINGLE ACTION ARMY, .38 COLT, 5 1/2" BARREL, FACTORY LETTER, #352XXX, MADE 1929. This unusual Single Action Army that was made a few months before the Great Stock Market Crash of 1929 and letters as a .38 Colt, 5 1/2" blue finish, rubber grips and shipped as a shipment of one (1) to Harry Burkhart, Jr. on July 3, 1929, "address unknown." This excellent revolver retains about all the deep factory blue on the barrel and ejector housing with a spot of muzzle wear at the extreme edge and some very, very light thinning at the front end of the housing. The cylinder shows some light edge wear and there is fine blue on the butt. The grip straps only show mainly gray with deep blue in the upper portion of the back strap and good blue around the trigger guard and on the bow. The frame retains nearly all the case colors with move vivid colors in the protected areas, and the only silver being on the loading gate and some of the recoil shield. The screws retain nice fire blue and the cylinder pin is excellent. All markings are sharp and clear with the left side of the barrel correctly stamped "38 COLT." The original rubber grips have been replaced with mellow, aged stag grips that fit well. The right grip has an inlaid Buffalo Nickel, Indian head side showing with a faint date of 1927. The left grip panel has another Buffalo Nickel inlaid with the buffalo side showing. Matching serial numbers including the last two numbers on the rear of the cylinder. Truly an outstanding example in a rare caliber with factory letter.
