Original Antique 1st Generation Colt Single Action Army .38 W/ Factory Letter Salt Lake City UT 1889

This is an original 1st Genration Colt Single Action Army revolver. It is in .38 Colt Cartridge. 4 3/4 inch barrel with a 2-line Hartford address. Blue finish with wood grips. It was shipped to M.R. Evans in Salt Lake City Utah with one other gun on March 14, 1889. The gun retains a pleasing patina overall with sharp edges. Has a fair amount of original blue left. It would appear that the frame was originally case colored and retains some of that finish in protected areas. Fine bore with sharp riflilng. Crisp action. Original wood grips have some varnish wear and handling marks but are very good. All markings are clear. Matching numbers. We were also able to find a very little bit of information on M.R. Evans who was apparantly a doctor and was involved in the Sporting Goods trade, included is a photocopy of a picture we found of him online as well as a receipt dated 1898 that states that the company sold Guns, Revolvers, Ammunition, etc. Salt Lake City UT was known as the "Crossroads of the West". All in all a very solid Colt Single Action with a great western connection from a pivotal time of American Western Expansion. Serial number is 122944
