COLT M1877 THUNDERER with HOLSTER Made In 1881 HOLSTERED Sheriff’s Model with ETCHED PANEL Barrel
Description: COLT M1877 THUNDERER with HOLSTER Made In 1881 HOLSTERED Sheriff’s Model with ETCHED PANEL Barrel Here we present an Antique Colt M1877 “Thunderer” Revolver in .41 Colt with an etched panel barrel and holster, manufactured circa 1881. The Model 1877 was offered in three different calibers, which led to the three unofficial names. The “Lightning” which was chambered in .38 Long Colt. The “Thunderer” which was chambered in .41 Colt. And, the “Rainmaker” which was chambered in .32 Colt. Neither "Lightning" nor "Thunderer" were Colt designations, and were not used by the factory in any reference materials. Both terms were coined by Benjamin Kittredge, one of Colt's major distributors. Kittredge was responsible for the term "Peacemaker" for the Colt Single Action Army. The 1877 "Thunderer" in .41 caliber was the preferred weapon of Billy the Kid and was his weapon of choice when he was killed by Pat Garrett in 1881. This holster is a thing of beauty! It is an open top design that is hand-stitched and lightly tooled. It was modified long ago with a belt loop and a short piece that is slotted for a button, likely for added stability. The overall condition is very good. 10% of the original blue finish remains with a gray-brown patina throughout. The markings are clear. The numbers match. The trademarked hard rubber grips are in very good shape. The bore is very good with nice rifling. The action (hammer/trigger) is strong, however, the cylinder timing is off just a little causing it not to lock up on some chambers. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 3-1/2 inches. Caliber: .41 Colt Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1650 #190239 SOLD Antique: Yes |
