LETTERED Antique COLT Model 1877 THUNDERER .41 Cal. Double Action REVOLVER CHICAGO SHIPPED Double Action Revolver Made in 1882
Description: LETTERED Antique COLT Model 1877 THUNDERER .41 Cal. Double Action REVOLVER CHICAGO SHIPPED Double Action Revolver Made in 1882 Here we present an Antique Colt M1877 “Thunderer” Revolver manufactured in 1882. The included factory letter confirms the current configuration as well as shipment to Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Co., in Chicago, Illinois on April 6, 1882 as one of a three gun shipment. The Model 1877 was offered in three different calibers, which led to the three unofficial names. The “Lightning” which was chambered in .38 Long Colt. The “Thunderer” which was chambered in .41 Colt. And, the “Rainmaker” which was chambered in .32 Colt. Neither "Lightning" nor "Thunderer" were Colt designations, and were not used by the factory in any reference materials. Both terms were coined by Benjamin Kittredge, one of Colt's major distributors. Kittredge was responsible for the term "Peacemaker" for the Colt Single Action Army. The 1877 "Thunderer" in .41 caliber was the preferred weapon of Billy the Kid and was his weapon of choice when he was killed by Pat Garrett in 1881. The overall condition is good. The action functions. The bore is semi-bright remining in good shape. Here is a prime example of a Colt M1877 “Thunderer” to collect and display! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 5 inches. Caliber: .41 Colt Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1885 #20611 SOLD Antique: Yes |
