PRESENTATION CASED SET COLT COMMEMORATIVE U.S. CAVALRY
Description: Excellent 2nd generation issued in 1977, presentation full-cased set of Colt United States Cavalry Commemorative, 1777-1977, celebrating 200 years of US Cavalry. It consists of 2 Colt U.S. Model 1860 percussion revolvers, a shoulder stock, powder flask, bullet mold, nipple wrench, cap tin and key presented in a blue lined presentation case. These Colt 2nd Generation black powder revolvers are unfired. This is an early set, only the fourth set produced. These revolvers have the serial numbers US0004 and 0004US. The top of the case bears a brass presentation plaque "COLT HOLDINGS INC. / MORGAN STANLEY & CO. INCORPORATED / DONALD P. BRENNAN". Donald P. Brennan was the former Executive of Morgan Stanley Capital Partners, Morgan Stanley & Company Incorporated and Colt Holdings. His estate "Llangollen" had been the site of a battle that preluded the Battle Of Gettysburg. The set is in very fine condition overall. The revolvers, being never fired, retain .100% of their factory blued and case-colored finishes. The bores and mechanics are excellent. The grips are in excellent condition. The stock is in excellent condition. The accessories are all in excellent condition as well. The bullet mold is stamped "COLT'S PATENT" & "44H". The cap tin has the "ELEY BROS" label. The powder flask is stamped "COLT'S PATENT" and works freely. The presentation case has the original plaque inside the upper lid "UNITED STATES CAVALRY / 1777 - 1977 / COMMEMORATIVE". This set and this one has the lowest serial number I have seen, a truly suburb presentation cased set.. SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
