This revolver was made in Belgium for the American market in the 1880s. An interesting ANTIQUE REVOLVER in 44-40 WCF with a 5 3/8 in. barrel. It is stamped "Frontier Army" on the top strap and the top of the barrel is marked Belgium. It locks up tight, cycles, and all parts function. These guns were offer by Sears Roebuck and Montgomery Wards in the 1880s.
The
rear cylinder face shows the crown over "ELG" in an oval proof mark.
The butt plate has a lanyard ring. The gun is smooth blue/gray
throughout with fantastic gutta percha grips. The rifling is very strong
with some black powder pitting. These revolvers were carried in the Old West by many young cowboys. When Sears and Roebuck or Mongomery Wards sold the Colt for $14.00 and you could by one of these for $4.00. The antique holster was bunkhouse made for the gun. The holster is in using shape and the leather is fully alive.
