Antique FRANK WESSON Model 1870 Medium Frame .32 Cal. Rimfire POCKET RIFLE 1 of 5,000; “SPORTSMAN’S JEWEL” with MATCHING STOCK
Description: Antique FRANK WESSON Model 1870 Medium Frame .32 Cal. Rimfire POCKET RIFLE 1 of 5,000; “SPORTSMAN’S JEWEL” with MATCHING STOCK Here we present an antique Frank Wesson Model 1870 Medium Frame Pocket Rifle made circa 1870-93 in Worcester, Massachusetts. Frank Wesson was the younger brother of Daniel B. Wesson, of Smith & Wesson, as well as Edwin Wesson, who was also a highly-esteemed gunsmith in the mid-to-late-1800s. The fame of his family’s name was not lost on Frank as he was, in fact, a prolific firearms designer and maker in his own right. Part of the 'Pocket Rifle' series of long barreled single shot stocked pistols, also known as the "Sportsman's Jewel". It was equipped with a globe front and aperture rear sights. The barrel turns on an axis to the right for loading and has a sliding manual extractor. The hammer and spur trigger are both serrated, and there is a pushbutton half-cock safety. The grips are smooth rosewood. There were approximately 5,000 of these pistols were produced during it’s 24 year production run. The overall condition is good. Strong action, the barrel easily swivels. The bore is in good shape for its age. Both grips are in good shape with a nice smooth finish. Numbers match. This example has been refinished. Legible markings. The front sight can be removed without effort. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 15-1/4 inches. Caliber: .32 Rimfire Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1400 #217434 SOLD Antique: Yes |
