c.1860s mfr. FRANK WESSON Two-Trigger Rifle .44 Rimfire Octagonal Barrel
Unique, Petite Single Shot Design!
Description: c.1860s mfr. FRANK WESSON Two-Trigger Rifle .44 Rimfire Octagonal Barrel Unique, Petite Single Shot Design! Here we present an antique Frank Wesson Two-Trigger Rifle in .44 Rimfire, made circa the 1863 in Worcester, Massachusetts. Frank Wesson was the younger brother of Daniel B. Wesson, of Smith & Wesson, as well as Edwin Wesson, who was also a highly-esteemed gunsmith in the mid-to-late-1800s. The fame of his family’s name was not lost on Frank, but he was, in fact, a prolific firearms designer and maker in his own right. He was granted patents in 1859 and began producing rifles of this two-trigger configuration. The Civil War was a fantastic opportunity for many different inventors and over 20 different carbines were used during the conflict on the Union side. Frank Wesson made a version of his rifle in a .44 caliber rimfire carbine format that was specifically geared for Cavalry troops. He also made carbines and rifles in various calibers for the commercial market. The overall condition is good. Refinished blue. The action is strong. The bore is bright with sharp rifling. The stock has been repaired at the wrist and there is some little movement between the stock and frame tang. Low number. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Caliber: .44 Rimfire Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1385 #215601 SOLD Antique: Yes |
