Frank Wesson Two Trigger Carbine 1st Type without extractor in .44 Rim Fire
Description: This is an antique Frank Wesson Two Trigger Carbine 1st type without extractor. This would make it a very early carbine (c 1862) made by Frank Wesson, the younger brother of Daniel Wesson, of Smith and Wesson. This carbine is chambered for the .44 Rimfire Military cartridge and was sold by B. Kitteridge & Co., Cincinnati, Ohio and so marked. Kitteridge was a major supplier to Militia in the states of Ohio, Indiana, Illinois Missouri and Kentucky. These guns were primarily used by Calvary and this one has sling swivels and a small saddle ring. Many soldiers bought these guns for their personal use, also. The bore is very good with sharp clean rifling. The front trigger opens the action and the rear trigger is to fire the gun. Between 3,000 and 4,000 of these guns were used during the Civil War and this one was most likely used in the conflict. Kitteridge sold these for $25.00 and cartridges at $11.00 per thousand rounds. My how prices have gone up. Please use the ZOOM feature to make your evaluation of this historic carbine.. Shipping via Priority Mail $70.00 SOLD Antique: Yes |
