This fine engraved -pinfire revolver is very similar to the French Lefaucheux Patent Model 1862 pinfire revolver. This revolver is unmarked with the exception of London crown over V black powder proof marks on the barrel and cylinder. It was most likely made in France or Belgium and exported to England. The overall length is approx. 11.5"". The 5.5"" octagon at the breech to round 45 caliber (11.43mm) cannon muzzle barrel has an excellent bore with bright, strong rifling. The barrel has a .5"" tall front sight. The rear sight is a notch in the hammer. All the metal retains approx. 95% of its original bright blue with the grip strap turning brown. The barrel lug, right and left sides of the frame, bottom of the trigger guard, and grip strap all have tasteful scroll engraving. Each chamber of the six shot cylinder is numbered. The grips are excellent with fine checkering on the bottom half and carved leaf decorations on the panels at the frame. There are no cracks or chips and they retain virtually all their finish. The lanyard swivel and ring are present. The double action functions correctly. This superb example of a British marketed pinfire revolver is ready for the finest collection.
