Here we present a Texas Shipped 1st Generation Colt Single Action Army Revolver, made in 1905 in Hartford, Connecticut. Per the factory letter, this Colt Single Action Army was shipped along with one other to Bering Cortes Hardware Company in Houston, Texas on October 10, 1905. Bering Cortes Hardware was founded in about 1885 by Julius C Bering and H.W. Cortes.
The left side of the barrel is marked “.32 WCF”. The top of the barrel is marked “COLT’S PT.F.A.MFG.CO.HARTFORD,CT U.S.A.”. The left side of the frame underneath the cylinder is marked “PAT. SEPT. 19, 1871/ JULY 2, 72. JAN 19, 75”.
The overall condition is very good. Traces of the original blue finish remain with an even gray patina throughout. The markings are clear. The numbers match. The hard rubber grips are Colt trademarked and in good shape. The bore is clean with good rifling. The action is excellent. Here is a great example of Colt’s most famous revolver in the great .32 WCF cartridge that letters to Texas!
