IVER JOHNSON Safety Automatic Revolver BOURNE KNUCKLE DUSTER 2nd Model C&R Revolver with PEARL GRIPS
Description: IVER JOHNSON Safety Automatic Revolver BOURNE KNUCKLE DUSTER 2nd Model C&R Revolver with PEARL GRIPS Here we present a C&R Iver Johnson Arms & Cycle Works Safety Automatic Hammerless Double Action Second Model Revolver with a Bourne Knuckle Duster in .38 S&W, made circa 1906-08 in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. The overall production run for the Safety Automatic revolver was from 1897 through 1941. These revolvers were made from 1896 to 1908 but the Bourne Knuckleduster attachment was only offered from 1906 to 1908 with roughly 7000 going out the door. This “knuckleduster”, a term that usually is applied to brass knuckles, is intended to be used more like a “skull crusher”. Iver Johnson was a U.S. firearms, bicycle, and motorcycle manufacturer from 1871 to 1993. The company shared the same name as its founder, Norwegian-born Iver Johnson (1841–1895). Iver Johnson & Martin Bye both cut their teeth with Ethan Allen, then started their own company in 1871. The revolver was a small, sturdy, well-built self-defense weapon, ideal for potent conceal and carry in the closing decades of the tumultuous 19th Century continuing on into the years leading up to the Roaring Twenties. The overall condition is very good. Original nickel finish. The action fully functions, but when open and the ejector rod is activated the cylinder dismounts. The bore has retained quite a bit of shimmer and is nicely rifled. Both grips are fiery in appearance and only have light handling present. Legible markings. Both the box and knuckle duster are good. Though the revolver does not quite fit the box, it is still an attractive piece that displays well with the revolver. “Out of ammunition? It’s no problem with the knuckle duster attachment at the bottom of the grips” might have been a good advertising slogan at the time. Here we have a wonderful example of a true no nonsense self-defense weapon leading into the Jazz age. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 3-1/4 inches. Caliber: .38 S&W Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING. Will need to be sent to your local FFL or C&R licensee. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1500 #233863 SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
