***SOLD*** Webley & Scott Mark IV Tanker Revolver in .38 S&W Caliber **Scarce Variation of the Mark IV - WWII Example - Marked "War Finish
Description: ****SOLD**** Presented here for consideration is a scarce variation of the Webley & Scott Mark IV double action revolver in .38 S&W caliber. The Webley Revolver (also known as the Webley Top-Break Revolver or Webley Self-Extracting Revolver) was, in various designations, a standard issue service pistol for the armed forces of the United Kingdom, and countries of the British Empire and the Commonwealth of Nations, from 1887 to 1970. The Webley is a top-break revolver and breaking the revolver operates the extractor, which removes cartridges from the cylinder. The Webley Mk I service revolver was adopted in 1887 and the Mk IV rose to prominence during the Boer War of 1899–1902. This particular Mark IV is a scarce tanker version with a short barrel and chambered in .38 S&W caliber. It has handling marks and high edge wear but everything works as it should. Being marked "War Finish" and being of the unique configuration it is a World War II era revolver. The short barrel and caliber were used to insure maximum ease and range of use inside an armored vehicle. The bore is still very good with strong rifling. The hard rubber grips are in very nice condition exhibiting a few pressure marks and one small chip on the bottom of the right grip panel probably from being clunked around inside a tank. This rare Webley would make a very nice addition to a collection of wartime militaria. PRICE: $795.00 We are Antique & Modern Firearms in Lexington, KY, a dealer of fine firearms since 1974.
