BRIT SMITH & WESSON .38 S&W Safety HAMMERLESS Top Break Revolver C&R
“LEMON SQUEEZER” with BRITISH PROOFS
Description: BRIT SMITH & WESSON .38 S&W Safety HAMMERLESS Top Break Revolver C&R “LEMON SQUEEZER” with BRITISH PROOFS Here we present a 5th Model Smith & Wesson .38 Double Action Safety Hammerless Revolver, made circa 1907-1940 in Springfield, Massachusetts. Over the 33-year production run for the 5th model, roughly 41,500 were manufactured. The Smith & Wesson Safety Hammerless models were produced from 1887 (1888 for the 32) to just before World War II. They were chambered in either .32 S&W or .38 S&W with a five-shot cylinder. They were most often produced with a 2-inch, 3-inch, 3.5-inch, or 4-inch barrel. But some 6" barreled versions, as this one is, are known to exist. This revolver was made to be a simple, compact and reliable firearm that one could carry in a pocket or a holster around the turn of the 20th Century. This revolver features an internal hammer design to remove risk of snagging or stopping the action. There is a grip safety built into the back of the grip frame. The frame is a top-break design that activates the automatic ejector. These are very nice features from the turn of the 20th Century! They were known as "The New Departure" to reflect the company's new approach to designing revolvers. This 5th model was the last of the "Lemon Squeezers". The only appreciable difference between this model and 4th Model is the front sight blade on the 5th Model is an integral part of the barrel, not a separate blade pinned onto the barrel. The serial number range on this revolver is 220001 to 261493. This one features British proofs on the cylinder, frame, and barrel. The overall condition is near fine. Original nickel finish with blue accents. There is some thinning on the high-traffic areas and a bit of pitting on the barrel latch. The action is strong and tight all the way around. The bore is bright. Both grips are firm with minimal handling wear. Here is a revolver from S&W to help fill in the collection! This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 6 inches. Caliber: .38 S&W Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING. Will need to be sent to your local FFL or C&R licensee. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $845 #201552 SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
