Deane Adams & Deane Cased Percussion Revolver w/ Accessories
Description:
Serial #987, approx. 54 gauge (.45 caliber), 6 1/4” octagon barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is an extremely handsome revolver that has retained 92-95% of the original bright blue finish that has silvered mildly at the muzzle and flaked lightly along some of the high edges and projections. A few small scratches and spots of finish loss are present on the top and left side of the barrel around the retailer markings. The cylinder retains muted original color case-hardening with the balance having turned to a lightly freckled, smooth gray patina. The revolver was never equipped with a rammer but a brass-tipped ebony and walnut loading rod is included. The revolver is London proofed and maker marked along the topstrap: “DEANE, ADAMS & DEANE, (MAKERS TO H.R.H. PRINCE ALBERT) 30 KING WILLIAM STT. LONDON BRIDGE”. The screws and other components all retain visible amounts of their original bright nitre blue finish as well. The checkered English walnut grip is in fine shape with very few handling marks or blemishes present and the checkering points are only lightly flattened, mostly at the top and along the knuckle tang. The lock-up is still tight and the revolver mechanism is fully functional. The revolver is housed in its original oaken case with seven compartment interior, original dark green baize lining that has since faded slightly in a few spots over time with some wear through the fabric at a few of the partition edges. The original Deane, Adams & Deane paper label is still present on the inside of the lid and is in excellent condition. A full complement of original accessories are included: a small Dixon pistol flask with powder measure top, turn-screw, wad cutter, nipple wrench, wooden ramrod, double cavity “R. ADAMS” marked 54 ga. mold with “REILLY'OXFORD St./LONDON” retailer's marking on the side, metal oil bottle, and a very rare Eley washed leather bag of percussion caps with intact paper label.
