The 8mm Model 1898 Austrian service revolver is based on the Schmidt-Galand double action solid frame 8-round revolver. It was in service from 1898 to 1938. The 4.5"" round barrel has a fine bore with strong rifling. The gun retains approx. 95% of its dull blue military finish. The bright hammer and trigger have approx. 95% finish. The left side of the forward frame is marked PATENT over RAST & GASSER over WIEN. The chekered wood grips are fine and the lanyard loop is present. The action functions correctly. This very nice example of the Austrian Model 1898 Rast & Gasser service revolver is ready for an Austrian or European military pistol collection.
