The Defender 89 was manufactured by Iver Johnson, Worcester, MA, in the late 1800s. This Defender 89 is in 32 rimfire caliber. The 2 3/8"" round barrel has a very good bore with frosting in the grooves. The top strap is marked DEFENDER 89. The gun retains approx. 85% of its original nickel finish with scattered flaking. The very fine hard rubber grips have decorative scrolls with DEFENDER '89 on each side. There are no cracks or chips. The action functions correctly. This is a nice example of the type of pistol carried by most people in the late 19th century.
