Here Ancestry Guns presents a C&R Factory Boxed Iver Johnson Arms & Cycle Works Top Break Safety Automatic Hammerless Double Action C&R Revolver in .32, made circa 1909 to 1941 in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. The production run for this revolver was 1897 through 1941. The First Model was produced between 1895 and 1896, with the Second Model produced between 1897 and 1908. The Third Model, AKA the “New Model”, was produced between 1909 and 1941.

Iver Johnson was a U.S. firearms, bicycle, and motorcycle manufacturer from 1871 to 1993. The company shared the same name as its founder, Norwegian-born Iver Johnson (1841–1895). Iver Johnson & Martin Bye both cut their teeth with Ethan Allen, then started their own company in 1871. The revolver was a small, sturdy, well-built self-defense weapon, ideal for potent conceal and carry in the early years of the tumultuous 20th Century continuing into and beyond the Roaring Twenties.

The overall condition is good. Much of the original blue finish is preserved. Robust action. The bore is very good with a light shimmer, crisp rifling and some light pitting. The right grip is missing a chip in the butt and has a thin crack at the top. The left side is very good. Markings are sharp.

The original box is hand numbered to the gun. Overall in good shape. Some of the corners are frayed and separated. This piece also includes an original receipt from “1919”, showing a purchase from “VON LENGERKE & ANTOINE”, the same firm that sold weapons to gangsters such as Al Capone during the Roaring Twenties!
