IVER JOHNSON 844 SUPERSHOT SEALED 8 TARGET .22
Description: SOLD IN ONE DAY This is a high-quality, well-made, well-finished 8-shot top break, large frame, double action .22 LR target revolver. Of course, being a revolver, you can also use .22 longs ( who uses these), shorts, and CBs.The Model 844 were made for only two years, with this one being made in 1956. It has a transfer bar to prevent accidental discharge if it is dropped. Iver Johnson came up with this in 1904, advertised as Hammer the Hammer. Ruger waited until 1973 to incorporate a transfer bar. Other innovative features include a cylinder sealing system that prevents escaping gas from the front of the cylinder from being directed only forward instead of to the sides. The rear of the cylinder is countersunk and notched to allow safe, non-damaging dry firing. It has a six-inch slab-side heavy barrel, weighs 30 oz, and is 10.75" long. It has a checkered one-piece black walnut grip, grooved trigger, checkered case-hardened hammer, adjustable rear sight for windage, and an adjustable front partridge sight for elevation. It is mechanically perfect, with 99+% % + intact bluing and no pitting or rust. It would be NRA-rated very good or close to excellent. It's fun to shoot and very accurate. A word about Iver Johnson. I never gave them much thought until I impulsively won aon a large-frame .32-long revolver (the last photo; no, it's not for sale). Many people think they are cheap and poorly made. They are wrong. They are very nice, accurate, and seriously undervalued. I'm selling it because I accidentally ended up with two because I thought I was on a Model 855, which is identical but single-action only. .SOLD TO ROGER SOLD Handgun Caliber: .22 Long Rifle Manufacturer: IVER JOHNSON Model: 844 Barrel Length: 6 Condition: VG-Excellent 99%+ Metal Condition: Excellent Wood Condition: Excellent Bore Condition: Excellent Stock: Checked one piece walnut Finish: Blued 99%+ Some faint scratch marks on cylinder Weight: 300z Sights: Adjustable Manufacture Date: 1956 Item Location: Dallas Texas |
