Iver Johnson top break 3rd model .38 S&W C&R OK

Iver johnson Third Model ,  large frame  Safety Hammer  Revolver.  Top Break , auto ejecting, double top post barrel latch,  coil spring,  nickel finish, 5 shot , 3 1/4” barrel  in .38 S&W .  made in 1921.  2nd year of production , 11,400 produced that year. Serial # H32695

Condition:  3 ¼” raised ribbed round barrel with a good shiny bore showing just a couple spots of pitting with solid rifling. . The metal surfaces still retain some of the original nickel finish , most faded away with some minor freckling, oxidation ,scratches and handling marks.   All markings are legible with the barrel and trigger guard serialized to the frame. Very good looking original black checkered hard rubber grips with the owl logo.   Mechanically works very good in single and double action with very good timing and  lock-up.  A good example of a nice vintage  Iver Johnson .38 S&W Third model.

The 1st and 2nd models were made for black powder or lower pressure loads . The 3rd models changed over to a coil hammer spring which allowed stronger pressure smokeless loads to be used.   This model uses a .38 S&W

This revolver is a complete ORIGINAL , matching numbers.   Nice example of a Iver Johnson Third Model large frame .38 and would make a nice addition to any top break collection
