Iver Johnson Viking, Top Break Revolver, 32 S&W
Description: Iver Johnson Viking 67s: Top Break 32 S&W, 2.5 inch barrel, 5 shot cylinder, Case hardened trigger and hammer. Custom Faux Pearl Grips, (This pistol can be ordered with other grips shown or, the other grips may be ordered in addition to the pearl grips, for $25.00 each ). This Revolver is in very good to excellent condition. Tight action, bright bore, few fine scratches on cylinder and some minor finish wear. The Viking was manufactured from 1964 to 1975. This top break firearm was built with modern day materials that will stand up to Smokeless Ammunition and will chamber safely, the 32 long cartridge, as well as the 32 short. In 1975, Iver Johnson was competing with Smith & Wesson and Colt among others, for a place in the Snub Nose firearm market. Their top break action and low pricing gave them a good advantage. This model is also considered a Safety Automatic. The safety Automatic allows the firing pin to be controlled by the trigger and a safety bar. When the trigger resets, the firing pin mechanically pulls back into the receiver, and the hammer moves away from the transfer bar. The Iver Johnson patent on the Safety Automatic was the first in history. It began in 1895 and lasted to 1905. Guns were also built with the Safety Automatic by the U.S. Revolver Company; U.S. Revolver is an 0ff-shoot of The Iver Johnson Corp. In modern times, (Now), the safety bar is used in most revolvers. “Thank you Iver Johnson.” The Safety Automatic design, allows the gunman to safely carry the piece fully loaded. He can also make use of smokeless ammo with this revolver. When Teddy Roosevelt took over as the New York City Police commissioner, he recalled all the Departments Firearms and issued every Policeman in NYC, a pistol chambered for Smokeless 32 S&W Long ammo. The future president was quite a gunman himself, and he was impressed with the power and accuracy of the 32 S&W Long Ammo. Today’s offering shows hardly any amount of carry wear, and not much actual shooting. The barrel is shiny, with lands and groves very visible. We place the remaining blue finish at 99%. This is a beautiful firearm. We have cleaned and oiled this piece as we do with all firearms that we put up for resale. The action on this firearm is surely range ready. The mechanical works of this revolver were designed very close to the platform of Smith & Wesson, Colt, and most other top firearms of the day. The Revolver’s cylinder locks up, nicely, when the hammer is cocked or at rest. However, (“Once again, as with all our acquisitions),” we used Snap Caps, (dummy rounds), to check this pistols indexing, We found that indexing is like new. This firearm is still more than fifty years since manufacture, and should be checked out by a qualified gunsmith before taking it to the range. We recommend a gunsmith that has owned or successfully worked on Iver Johnson Top Break Revolvers. The buyer is responsible for the initial shipping charges, ($35.00). We ship through our FFL provider. We will try to accommodate the buyer’s method of shipping as we can. We cannot ship until all checks are cashed and the FFL is in hand. The firearm will be shipped to your FFL provider for identification and registration. We allow a three day inspection period. Any return shipping is the buyer’s responsibility. Ammo and Speed Strips are not included in the sale. Thanks for monitoring our .
