Merwin Hulbert .38 CPD Marked
Description: Smith & Wesson replaced Merwin Hulbert as the supplier of CPD handguns in the late 1800s. this Merwin Hulbert .38 was purchase by the Cleveland Police Department. The backstraps of these guns were engraved with the rank or badge number of the officer to which they were assigned (e.g. “C.P.D. Sergeant,” “No. 322 C.P.D.”).This Hulbert features a folding hammer spur for better pocket carry. This unique revolver has a rotating barrel which allows you to rotate the barrel 90 degrees, in order to pull the barrel and cylinder forward to remove the fired cartridge. In addition to the unique case extraction system, you can press an additional lever control when the frame is open that allows the owner to completely remove the barrel. This allows you to swap barrels, helps with cleaning, and makes a shorter conceal carry! The combination of extraction and barrel removal required very precise manufacturing tolerances, and these were considered to be the strongest and most well-made revolvers of their time. This unique .38 is in great condition for its age, with original handguard, smooth function and amazing CPD markings and history attached. SOLD |
