Colt 1909 US Military...consec. pair
Description: Colt 1909 consecutive pair! The Colt 1909 US Military revolver was an emergency order to fill a void. It was well known that the earlier revolvers in .38 special did not have enough stopping power to thwart the Moros in the Philippine Islands and the 1911 was not yet available because it was still being “tested”. A total of 19,503 of these 1909 revolvers were made making the 1909 the lowest production run for US Military, ever! These 1909’s were inspected by Rinaldo A Carr (RAC) and so stamped in a number of places on the revolvers. These revolvers were then accepted by Colonel Frank Baker (FB) and so stamped on the right-rear side of the frame. It is hard to say how many 1909’s remain in circulation today? Even more difficult to guess how many survived in this fine condition; remember these are over 100 years old! Then my best guess is that this may be one of just a handful of consecutive pairs..if that many!! Also, please notice the numbers 533 & 534 on the grips. Those numbers are "rack" numbers so this pair of 1909's have been together since day one! The only detraction from original is that the lanyard swivels had been removed and the resulting hole in the grip frames have been plugged. Your chance to own a very special consecutively number pair of rare US Military revolvers. These particular revolvers have been in a private collection for over 30 years. $12,000.00 SN: 36274 & 36275 Brammer Price: $12,000.00 Contact Seller |
