Description:
Standard early configuration Waffenfabrik Bern Model 1882 Revolver with thin top strap, chambered in 7.5mm, with 6? octagonal barrel, drift adjustable front sight and notched rear sight. Waffenfabrik Bern logo on left side of frame under the full serial number 5440, the serial number or last few digits repeated on left side of barrel, cylinder, cylinder axle, ejector rod, hammer, and trigger. Separate assembly number “9870” on various parts. Unnumbered loading gate. Original hard rubber grips, left panel molded with Swiss Cross enclosed by checkered field. Single transverse screw. Lanyard ring present. Deaccessioned "P 34" as marked on the left side of the frame. Complete with an original holster/shoulder stock as correct for the earliest production/antique revolvers with an attaching lug that slips into the hollowed tunnel at base of revolver frame. The leather stock has an impressed logo on the lid that is retained by a brass stud. Inner body inked "P5448" (indistinct). Shoulder straps have been removed. ANTIQUE!
Condition:
The 1882 revolver retains 90-95% of its original rust blue finish with wear in expected areas, comparable condition strawed parts, the unmarked loading gate better, showing no suggestion of enhancement, and crisp original grips without chips or cracks. Mirror bore. Correct manual mechanics, each cylinder indexing properly against mild resistance. Stock G-VG with light crazing, the stitching on the ears beginning to separate, lug smoothly entering the frame tunnel. A highly charismatic and instantly recognizable ensemble, seldom offered for sale! ANTIQUE!
