This is an Excellent Colt U.S. Second Model Dragoon Revolver. Mfg Circa. 1850-1851. .44 caliber with 7.5" Barrel. Has the Address, "ADDRESS SAML.COLT NEW YORK CITY"one line address. All original and matching example. Wedge is un marked. Serial #9615, which is close to the New Hampshire and Massachusetts Militia series contracts and having an "M" stamp to the left of the "COLT'S/PATENT" frame stamp which probably indicated that it was intended for a State Militia. Sub Inspector's stamps and the grips with two nice cartouches, including the early "WAT", script cartouche of William A. Thornton, the U.S. inspector of the Walker Colt's. Superb condition with modest amounts of original blue and case hardening mixed Fine Patina.Excellent markings and Superb Cylinder Scene. Fine working order and Excellent Bore and Chambers. Still retains the original safety pins. The Fine original grips retain nearly all of original arsenal oil finish.
