This very scarce arsenal cutaway Model 1879 Reichs revolver was made in 1881. It is one of a few known Model 1879 cutaways. It has 1881 stamped on the left frame. The left side of the revolver is extensively to show the lock work operation as viewed from the top and left side. The standard 7"" 10.55mm caliber barrel has a fixed front and rear sight. ""10.55"" is stamped on the left barrel flat. The bore is very good with strong rifling and light erosion. The serial number, 777, is on the left barrel flat, left frame, left side plate, cylinder, and most small parts. It retains approx. 50% original finish with the remainder faded to gray-brown, particularly on the trigger guard and grip straps. The smooth wood grips are good with original finish, scattered staining, and issue dents and dings. The left grip is cut away to show the mainspring and rotating lanyard ring. The grip cap is marked ""50.A.4.1."" (50th Field Artillery, Battery 4, Gun 1) indicating prior field use. The action, including the safety, functions correctly. If you collect German military revolvers or cutaways, this Model 1879 Reichs revolver is for you.
