Extremely Rare Pre-Civil War Savage & North Navy Revolver
Description: NSN, .36 cal., 7? octagon barrel with a fine, bright bore that has some dark spots of mild pitting along its length. This is one of about 100 iron frame 2nd Model revolvers produced (out of a total production run of approximately 500 pieces for all models and variations). The metal has an overall mottled pewter gray patina throughout with patches of dark plum-brown freckling scattered about and some patches of deeper pitting on the cylinder walls and at the breech of the barrel where it meets the frame. This darker pitting carries over onto the grip frame as well as the rear of the cylinder. The walnut grips are in fine shape with minor handling marks and surface scratches in the original oil finish as well as a sliver missing from the rear knuckle of the left panel. The mechanism is still robust and fully functional, however the cylinder tends to over-rotate on a few of the chambers. This is an extremely rare American revolver, made just prior to the Civil War, and would make a fabulous addition to any collection.
