S & W Schofield Revolver Marked Wells Fargo Express.
Description:
This is a S&W Schofield revolver that is marked as a Wells Fargo gun. It is .45 S&W caliber. The original Army revolver was modified by cutting the barrel to 5 inches by several dealers to include Bannerman. There were about 6000 Schofield made for the US Army and most were issued to the "Buffalo" soldiers. When declared surplus they were sold to various dealers and many were modified for Wells Fargo. The gun looks to be all original and all numbers match to include the grips. The inspectors mark (W) is in all proper places. The front sight has been modified at some point in the past. The bore is oxyiodide as is the entire gun and has some slight pin prick pits, but the bore is shootable. The gun locks up tight. The US on the butt is barely visible. Please use the ZOOM feature to make your own evaluation as to condition. Antique, no paperwork required. I have shown this gun to several experts and they agree that it is a Wells Fargo gun. This gun is priced to sell. It is unlikely that you will ever find another at this price.
